For anyone not familiar with the area, Cecil Wampler Rd (Rt. 704), intersects
with Rt. 11 (South Valley Pike) north of Mt. Crawford and about 1.1 miles south
of the Harrisonburg City limits. (For gps purposes, "town" address would most
likely be Mt. Crawford.) Heading east from there on Cecil Wampler brings you
to the I-81 bridge.
Around 5 PM the owl should have been seen by thousands of people traveling I-81
-- it was very active and switched poses between several sign tops along both
sides of I-81 near the southernmost Harrisonburg exit. Several of us were wowed
when it flew directly at us, crossing over at utility-line height. Awesome
treat!
