That turned out to not be much of a snow day afforded me time to walk
along the banks of the Potomac at Dyke Marsh (Alexandria) at high tide
in hopes of kicking up an odd warbler prior to the DC CBC this coming
up Saturday.
No luck on warblers. Still lots of RUDDY DUCKS about, only saw one
RINGNECKED DUCK mixed in. Later saw a small group (30 or so) LESSER
SCAUP. Aside from RB BGULLS, there were a few GREATER BLACKBACKS, and
a single HERRING GULL. Nice SHARPIE posted up in a tree along edge of
golf course and the two "power tower" BALD EAGLES were in the old nest
tree before flying back to their utility pole (Rt 1 and the beltway).
Aside from the usual suspects, also had 3 DC CORMS and 3 GB HERONS (no
Egret today) off the stone bridge and that's all he wrote.
