Subject: [shenvalbirds] Lapland Longspurs
William Leigh, Diane Lepkowski, and I found a Lapland Longspur foraging
with a flock of well over 100 Horned Larks on Scholars Rd in Rockingham County
this morning. The flock was moving around in the fields near the railroad
crossing. After leaving that location and heading back toward Lake Shenandoah,
we located another Longspur in a smaller flock of Horned Larks on Spaders
Church Rd just south of the intersection with Pleasant Valley Rd. This bird
was seen well and photographed.
A nice-sized flock of American Pipits was seen along South Whitesel Church Rd
just north of the GV Book Fair.
