Hi,
A RUFFED GROUSE flushed about 15' ft. from me as I
headed up the upper North Ridge Trail today. This is
a long overdue first sighting in Va. for me although
I've heard this species many times. I birded from the
Vis. Center to the AT and back. I enjoyed the
unseasonably warm weather at the park but the birds
were mostly few and far between.
Other neat birds: RED-TAILED HAWK, probable
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, imm. NO. HARRIER, RED-HEADED
WOODPECKER.
