VA Birders,
This morning my wife and I birded Horn Mountain again here in Buchanan Co. We
found our first SCARLET TANAGERS of the season at 9:17. A brightly colored male
flew into a tree top just over our heads. I took a quick photo before it flew
to another tree. Shortly after we heard two more Tanagers. As we were listening
to them I heard the distinct bell like song of the first WOOD THRUSH of the
season. We were also listening for the song of the Chestnut-sided Warbler,
which we didn't find, but we did find another CERULEAN WARBLER in the trees
along the roadside.
Enjoy the birds,
Roger Mayhorn
