Hello all,
I haven't had much opportunity to look for the Ripley garden hummingbirds
these last few days. I dashed through Ripley and the Smithsonian Butterfly
Garden on my way to and from Natural History to do some Christmas shopping;
it was pouring and cold, and the wind turned my umbrella inside-out, so I
confess I didn't spend much time looking up lest I drown! Below is the
report Jim posted on the MD list serve.

At lunch today (in the wind and rain) I waited at the feeders for 20
minutes. I had two glimpses of the Rufous Hummingbird, which was in the
tree with large evergreen leaves against the wall of the A&I building. It
came down to the adjacent feeder twice.
No sign of the Black-chinned. It may have been last seen on the 12th. Has
anyone seen it more recently?
