Hello birders,
Sorry for the late post. I'm the only one from my group who made it in to
work, so of course there was a crisis with a project I've never laid eyes
on...I think I've managed to peel the frantic inspector off the outside of
my cube, at least for a few more hours.
I'd like to give a special shout-out to Metro this morning for creative
application of the phrase "minor delays," and for helping me experience
what it's like to almost be crushed by a stampeding crowd. 'Nuff said.
I arrived in the Ripley garden shortly after 9:00 a.m. The Rufous was
present, emitting soft chirps as she apparently "hawked" insects...as with
the post from the Martins on Sunday(?), I don't know if she's chasing
snowflakes/ice pellets or is actually seeing something that we cannot. The
feeder is still thawed (not sure whether to thank the heat lamp, or if
someone checked on it before I did...) I tipped it to ensure nectar was
flowing; the Rufous scolded me for doing so, but did not take a drink while
I was there. In addition to the Rose bush, the Rufous has lately taken to
perching on top of the Euphorbia stalks near the front of the bed. Can't
wait for this weather to be over!
