We had birds at the feeder for 20 consecutive days, from April
20 through May 9. The numbers varied from 3 to 9 (our peak count on May
5).
If they left Central VA, they made a stop in Northern VA.Saturday and Sunday
(05-08 and 05-09), we had 2 males and probably 6-7 female rose-breasted
grosbeaks in our woods and feeders -- they accepted both a tube feeder with
perches
and a wooden platform feeder with equanimity -- up on the ridge above
Bluemont, VA. I was able to get a close-up photo of the male right inside the
house.
