All,

The Colonial Historic Triangle finally joined the ranks of communities to
claim a Ross's Goose, the CHT's 348th species.

This morning, 4 December, Mitchell Byrd, Brian Taber and I observed one
among a Canada Goose flock at Mainland Farm in James City County. The farm
is located off Green Springs Road near Jamestown Island. We watched the
goose for at least 30 minutes, before it flew off to the northeast with the
Canada flock. It was not determined why the flock left the field.

Photos of the Ross's Goose will be posted to the Williamsburg Bird Club's
website and to the Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory's General Blog.

Best Birds,

Bill
