Hello, birders.

This afternoon I butterflied at Riverbend Park near
Great Falls.  I birded the Meadow area and then walked
down to the VC, then went downstream to the field just
above the little falls.  After that I retraced my
steps.  I did not see the Ring-necked Ducks reported
previously by Jay Keller.

I did see a GREAT EGRET and 3 FORSTER'S TERNS today
near the Visitor Center.  I don't believe either is
terribly uncommon in the area, however I don't think
I've ever seen either species at the park before.  The
egret was standing in vegetation just off the Md.
shore when I first saw it.  Later, it flew off
downriver.  Two terns were resting on a rock in the
middle of the Potomac, a third was flying upriver in
the same area.

Families of songbirds were about - Kingbirds,
Chickadees, Titmice, Buntings.
