Hello VA-Birders:
I spent about an hour this morning in the meadow at Riverbend Park (Fairfax
County, VA) where there was a Yellow-throated Vireo (along the wooded part
of the path that circles the field) and two Swamp Sparrows that looked like
possible nesters. Other than the vireo, the only migrant was a Palm Warbler,
but there were numerous Bluebirds, Field Sparrows, and White-throated
Sparrows about, along with Ruby-crowned Kinglets, a female Red-winged
Blackbird, a nesting Black Vulture (as in years past), and constant traffic
overhead of Great Blue Herons flying back and forth from the rookery on Conn
Island, which is opposite the lower end of Riverbend Park.
