I was in an area today where, every summer in the past, I have seen and heard
Red-shouldered Hawks. This year, I also heard one near-by, and saw a nest that
presumably belonged to the hawks, but heard noises that sounded more like
Ospreys (though more drawn-out) than Red-shouldered Hawks. The noises (one, at
least) perpetually came from the area of the nest (though I never actually saw
a bird in the nest because of how high it was). I was wondering if immature
Red-shouldered Hawks make a noise different from that of the adults? Please
reply OFF the listserve. Thanks.
