Birders,
This morning, Rosemarie and I saw the following:
LAKE ORANGE:
2 Red-necked Grebes (winter plumage)
1 Common Goldeneye (m)
1 Greater Scaup (m)
American Coot
Killdeer (3)
LAKE ANNA (Bridge on Rt. 522, Orange Co. Line)
Common Mergansers (14)
Ring-necked Ducks (2)
Greater Scaup (40)
Redhead Ducks (6).......(yesterday there were 18 Redheads here.)
PRIVATE PROPERTY NEAR RT. 522 AND ORANGE CO. LINE
Canvasbacks (24)
Greater Scaup (15)
Ring-necked Ducks (61)
Redhead Duck (1)
Hooded Mergansers (4)
Mallards (2)
Lake Orange is less than a mile from our house and we check it for
waterfowl almost every day. The grebes were not there yesterday, so
they are still moving into the state or changing locations within the
state. Keep checking those ponds!
Happy trails,
George Harris
Orange County
