Sorry for this late post but did not have access to e-mail until today.
On my day -off from winter grassland bird censusing at Rappahannock NWR , I
visited Fort Storey and Grandview NP on Tuesday , Jan 13 . Ben Copeland has
already listed the Snow Bunting seen at Fort Storey on that date but a late
afternoon visit to Grandview NP gave me a Red-necked Grebe ,probably the
forerunner
of more to come with the big freeze. Also noted at Grandview were Scoter's (
Surf and White-winged ) , C .Goldeneye , C and RT Loon , Long-tailed Duck (male
) ,Bufflehead , RB Merganser and Brant Geese .
