Just as often happens, you look everywhere for a bird and it turns up in
your backyard.  Several Lynchburg birders saw one of the Red-necked Grebes
being reported all over the state on the way home from a Highland/Bath
County field trip a week ago.  However, I did not go on this field trip.  So
during Spring Break last week I searched several locations in Virginia Beach
for this elusive grebe to no avail.  Then this morning I looked out over
College Lake while drinking my morning coffee and saw a life-bird, the
Red-necked Grebe!
