After a 20 year absence, the Red-headed Woodpeckers have returned to our place.
A pair has been around for a month and we see and hear them frequently. For
two weary people rebuilding and recovering after the devistation of Hurricane
Isabel, the presence of these birds is a real joy.
Also, the resident Red-shouldered Hawks have completed their nest, the
Bluebirds are still chosing nesting boxes and Carolina Wrens are nesting on the
back porch. Purple Finch (4 females and 1 male) visit the feeders most
mornings and Hairy Woodpeckers are seen more often.
