Hello all
Yesterday after work I went out to check on a couple area ponds to see what the
Tropical Depression Frances left behind . My target birds were any of the
Phalarope kind but to my dismay none were to be found .
This morning Pat & I went out & on Bells Lane at the small far pond near Rt.
275 we found one Spotted Sandpiper & the catch of the day one Red -- necked
Phalarope going into winter plumage . Also on Bells lane was a large movement
of Tree Swallow's . Pat & I guessed there were at least 600 + birds . On
Quillen's today & yesterday were the following Shorebirds . Yesterdays numbers
will be displayed first & todays second .
G B Heron -- 1 / 1
Green Heron -- 1/ 2
Semipalmated Plover -- 1 / 1
Killdeer -- 10 / 7
Greater Yellowlegs -- 4 / 1
Lesser Yellowlegs -- 11 / 5
Solitary Sandpiper -- 1 / 0
Spotted Sandpiper -- 3 / 2
Semipalmated Sandpiper -- 0 / 2
Least Sandpiper -- 2 / 1
Pectoral Sandpiper -- 3 / 2
Tree Swallow -- 0 / 40
Now every thing else is todays .
McCunes
Tree Swallow ---45+
Stuarts Draft Treatment Plant
G B Heron -- 2
Great Egret -- 10
Tree Swallow --- 150+
The Swoope area did not have any Shorebirds because of the rains filling in the
mud flats near the ponds . Any way not a bad day of bird watching in Augusta
County .
