Mitchell Byrd and I were not as prompt as Bob Ake and Bob Anderson at getting
to Fort Story, arriving there about 11:30 a.m. From the platform at the Cape
Henry monument we observed 3 Razorbills at 12:30 p.m., flying west to east
offshore. Also present was a striking Lesser Black-backed Gull snoozing on the
beach, 2 fly-by Great Cormorants, and a steady movement of Red-throated Loons,
Northern Gannets, and Black and Surf Scoters.
