BJ and I met Sue Heath at Blandy to look for the Sora we had seen during week.
To our surprise, the first rail we saw was a Virginia. Eventually, 3 Virginia
Rail were seen plus a single Sora. I also heard another Sora in the marsh to
the west of the road.
Counting what we heard and saw, I believe there are at least 3 Virginia Rails
plus the 4 Sora we saw all week. All birds were VERY cooperative and fed out in
the open almost all the time.
There were still a good number of Wood Ducks along with at least 2 Solitary
Sandpipers. We also found Wood Ducks at a few spots in Frederick Co. plus a
single Spotted Sandpiper.
