VA-birders:
I'm from Eugene, Oregon, and I am planning on visiting a friend of mine in
Roanoke this May, and am hoping for a bunch of new lifebirds--specifically,
warblers, but my ideal wish-list is quite large (e.g. Woodcock, Gannet, Field
Sparrow, maybe some Empids?, etc.). I will probably stay about a week, and was
thinking about the 12-20 of May or so. Does anyone have any suggestions for
when the best time to go would be? Neither of us are expert birders. Also if
anyone has ideas of where we can go to see certain species, that would be
great. I've never seriously birded the East coast except Florida (and I have
many misses from there). Thanks for any information,
