The adult Purple Gallinule found some weeks ago by Bob Anderson was
apparently seen again today by Pamela Schenian around Mill Creek on the base
(Fort
Monroe); mowing in that area has made the bird disappear again, however. Will
post any updates from Bob here. I don't know about access for civilians to
the
Fort. Interestingly, Steve Hairfield thought he might have flushed a Purple
Gallinule off the marsh/roadside at the north end of Cape Charles, near
Marina Villages (a small patch of marsh labelled "Donkey Sanctuary"), but it
has
not been relocated. He has not seen the species but knows Purple Swamphen
well!
