On Sunday, 09-03-06, Jane Beavers & I spotted a possible Scissor-tailed
Flycatcher at Chippokes State Park near Surry, VA. We were at the parking lot
at
the visitor's center & saw the bird chasing an Eastern Wood-Pewee around the
picnic area. We got one good look at it when it perched about 20 yards away.
About a minute after it perched, two park employees emptying the garbage cans,
drove their pickup right under the bird. We looked for another 30 to 45
minutes but never saw it again. Neither of us are familiar with this species &
after
looking at all our bird books & searching on line, we believe it was the
Scissor-tailed. I hope someone else can find this bird
