Am still picking up some nice winter birds in western Loudoun County & finally
getting some of the long-awaited migrants.
A single PINE SISKIN continues to visit my thistle feeders. Though easily
intimidated by the House Finches & Goldfinches it spent a long time feeding
this morning. Saw a WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW about a mile from my house this
morning. Have seen WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS in several other locations over the
past few days, one at the end of my driveway on Sat. and a couple at BRCES at
the end of last week.
Saw several BOBOLINKS along Foggy Bottom Rd this morning while looking for the
Loggerhead Shrikes (no luck) that use to nest there.
Finally had an EASTERN WOOD PEWEE and an INDIGO BUNTING show up today &
yesterday. The INDIGO BUNTING was visiting my thistle feeder.
