Birders,
Today, Rosemarie and I went to the location on Clark Mtn. Rd. (Rt. 627)
where Steve Rottenborn had reported a Vesper Sparrow. At 0815 we heard
two Vesper's singing but did not see any. (Soybean field on Rt. 627
about .25 mile west of Rt. 666).
Some other birds on Rt. 627: Cooper's and R-tail Hawk, imm. Bald Eagle
over Horse Pond at the Vesper site; Baltimore & Orchard Orioles, Indigo
Buntings, Blue Grosbeaks; Song, Field and Grasshopper Sparrows;
Catbirds, Brown Thrashers, Green Herons, Kildeer, E. Kingbirds, E.
Phoebes, Black & Turkey Vultures, Bobwhites, Meadowlarks, Tree and Barn
Swallows,.............................. .
Not too bad, considering we only got out of the car for a few minutes to
look for the Vesper Sparrows.
Happy holiday,
George Harris
