I sure thought this was the place to report birds that are seen, regardless=
of what one was doing at the time. So is the new rule, "Do not give any =
information about what you were doing in the woods--please report only the =
list of birds that you see?" Because it seems to me that hunters are not =
the only ones that give background information on their activities.
Personally, I think it's refreshing to see someone who uses wildlife both =
consumptively and nonconsumptively. Sometimes I feel like the only =
birder-hunter.=20
As for me, while deer hunting on Saturday the 22nd in Powhatan County, I =
saw pileated, hairy, downy, and red-bellied woodpeckers, plus more =
flickers than I've ever seen in one place in my life. The highlight, =
though, was the red-tailed hawk that was hunting the plentiful squirrels =
about 15 feet up, through the tree limbs.
Or am I not allowed to mention that he was hunting, either?
