Despite the wind, saw 39 species at O.B. NWR. Birds of interest (BOI) - great
view from the gazebo of 3 drake Gr. Scaup with a lone drake L. Scaup for
comparison. Light was just right to see the greenish head of the Greaters and
the purple-brown head of the Lesser. Most of the divers have departed,
including the large raft of L. Scaup that has been here all winter. Many L.
Scaup are still in Belmont Bay, however. A Peregrine Falcon overflew the field
on the way to the gazebo heading towards Woodbridge. Wilson's Snipe (7) are
still in the marsh on Easy Rd. Saw a lone Am. Coot in the creek coming from the
golf course on the back exit road.
Went on to O.R.P. to escape the wind, and saw 21 species there. BOI, at least 4
Pine Warblers, with 2 singing, 3 E. Phoebe, and a Br. Creeper up on the ridge
trail that parallels the entrance road.
