I struck out once again on the Say's Phoebe reported at Sky Meadows State Park
this past week but had great views of a Rough-legged Hawk near the Bridle trail
parking area. Also an immature Bald Eagle, Red-shouldered Hawk and Northern
Harrier were over the most north-eastern field. For those not familiar with
this section of Sky Meadows, the signs for the Bridle trail and Equestrian
trail have been removed. On the east side of Rt 17 is a sign for Lost Mountain.
The Rolling Meadow/Equestrian/Bridle trail starts from the east end of the
parking lot. Also of note, the location on Rolling Meadow trail where the Say's
Phoebe was found by several, not including me, is the same area the Loggerhead
Shrike was found last year 1-2 December.
For those birding the area, the roads are clear and the trails have 3" of snow.
