To corroborate Val's finding that the Red-necked grebe may have departed, I
checked Burke Lake both yesterday, Fri the 29th, and today without seeing the
Red-Necked Grebe, although I'd seen it several times before. Was surprised,
however, by the sight of seven Tundra swans, 4 immature and 3 mature, first
I've seen on Burke Lake. Otherwise about 20 ruddy ducks, a couple of buffle
head and hooded merganzers, a great blue heron and plenty of ring-billed
gulls, Canada geese and Mallard ducks all seen from the Marina area.
