VA Birders,
This morning 21 PURPLE FINCHES (17 males, 4 females) were among the 22
species and 185 birds at my feeders here on Compton Mtn in Buchanan County.
These new birds, coming in during the morning snow fluries, broke the record
17 I had previously recorded this winter. In addition to the new Purple
Finch arrivals were 102 AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES, 10 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, my
first BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD (female) of the season, 3 COMMON GRACKLES and 4
EASTERN TOWHEES.
