We participated in the Reston Association's summer bird count this morning. We
had two highlights for the count at Sunrise Valley Park.
Beginning several weeks ago we saw first a male Orchard Oriole and then a
female Orchard Oriole at the park. This morning we spotted a female Orchard
Oriole carrying food to a very well camoflagued nest. The second highlight was
the presence of two Green Herons.
Three groups of birders spent the morning on the count. We totaled 59 species.
