Lead shot is now against the law for waterfowl hunting. Lead shot was much
more humane killing instantly. Steel shot is now required which is slightly
less effective. The end result is the same just a little longer. If a shot
is a miss the steel shot will fall into the water and may harmlessly be
ingested by dabblers and other wildlife.
