VA Birders,
Highlights of the Northern Virginia Bird Club's monthly bird walk at Long
Branch Nature Area, Arlington Co., on Wednesday, March 1, were 2 stunning
pairs of WOOD DUCKS, a GRAY CATBIRD, and an EASTERN TOWHEE. (Long Branch
Nature
Area includes Glencarlyn Park and the adjacent section of the W&OD Trail in
addition to the Long Branch Nature Center parkland.) The Wood Ducks were in
"Sparrow Swamp" on the W&OD Trail, the towhee was on the hillside below the
trail, and the catbird was near the restrooms in Glencarlyn Park.
NVBC and Long Branch Nature Center hold joint bird walks on the first
Wednesday of each month except July and August.
Good birding,
