It was a gray and coldy morning...and some people still showed up for the
NVBC walk at Huntley Meadows this Monday morning. We had six paricipants today.
The sun never did come out, but it didn't rain either so...go figure...
We had a few nice birds...a few sharpies about and one Coopers. A group of 12
or so Snipe flew in and stayed for a while. Just as we were zooming in on
them from the tower, a hawk put them up...9 flew over our heads, and the three
that stayed provided acceptable looks in the scope. One RH WP was seen up
Barnyard Run, but the Coops made it duck in a hole and only the head was
visible for
the rest of our stay. Six Pectoral Sandpipers joined the G & L Yellowlegs
along with a few Dunlin so the shorebird mix was interesting. A Green Heron was
seen close to the boardwalk - seemed to be catching it's share of minnows and
it sure did look healthy...hope it can move on south at some point...the list
