We spent a good day birding around NOVA today. Started out at Manassas
Battlefield where we picked up the Clay Colored Sparrow. It is still along
the power line cut off of Pageland Rd. Then a brief stop at the Prince
William County landfill where we got Iceland Gull and Lesser Black Backed
before we had to leave. I will mention that anyone who goes there, be sure
your vehicle has good ground clearance, I thought I tore the bottom out of
mine going up into the landfill.
Then a quick run out to Manassas Airport where we got White Crowned Sparrow.
Next stop was Lake Brittle where we had a few Buffleheads, 2 adult Bald
Eagles and 1 Lesser Black Backed Gull still there.
A stop at the Heron rookery on RT 55 found 6 Great Blue Herons on nests so
far. And last, was a stop on Bull Run Post Office Rd looking for Woodcock.
No woodcock, but we had a pair of Ravens while there.
