Here in Lynchburg we are at 50 Saw-whets since November 1st, after 39
and 38 the last two falls. The following are our results since our last
summary November 8th:
Nov 8 13
Nov 9 14
Nov 10 2
Nov 11 no banding
Nov 12 no banding (Rain)
Nov 13 5
Nov 14 2
Nov 15 0
Of our 50 birds, four were already banded: one came from the Lake
Ontario area were it was banded last fall, a second bird was from
Northern Ontario where it was banded this September, a third came from
Vermont where it was banded two falls ago, and the fourth is still
unaccounted for. Last year we netted 60% of our birds after November
15th, while in 2002 only 20% were after that date, so we'll have to see
what happens the next two to three weeks. Birds are slowing down
significantly to our north in Pennsylvania, however.
