VA Birders,
If you build it, they will come. At least that seems to apply to warblers and
my small pond stream. Eight species showed up to bathe and drink today, some
several times. The highlight of the day was a female Mourning Warbler (got
photos). Others were 3 Blackburnians, 1 Black-throated Green, a 1st year female
Chestnut-sided, a male Common Yellowthroat, 1 male Hooded, 1 Tennessee and 3
Yellow-throated Warblers. 34 species were observed in all with 2 Wild hen
Turkeys, a Pileated Woodpecker, a Wood Pewee and unusual for this area, a House
Wren being part of the mix.
Also in the yard were 2 White-tails, a doe and a fawn, 3 Cottontails, an
Eastern Gray Squirrel and one Eastern Chipmunk.
Here is a link to several photos of the birds in the stream or in the tree
above it.
