On the 15th I had a first fall Mourning Warbler at my place on Cedar Creek in
Shenandoah County. It was a first for us in 25 years, though I may have seen
one before but couldn't confirm the ID. This one was very cooperative, and
became species number 154 for the site. Other than a brief and rushed fly-by
wave of small birds that afternoon, I found relatively few migrants. By the
next
morning, there were even fewer. The only other species that is not
relatively common during migration there was a Northern Waterthrush.
