Perhaps it's already known, but I'll chance it. I was touring Spotsylvania
National Battlefield on Saturday, and at the Bloody Angle walk, tour stop #3
there was a male Bobolink that flew up from the tall grass next to the path
into a tall tree to the left and started singing. Lots of other rather mundane
species in the area, too (Ovenbirds, American Goldfinches, R-E Vireos, Wood
Thushes, the ever-present vultures, and some tall grass sparrows that wouldn't
sing to me, since I was without binocs).

Pretty late for a non-breeder. Along 661 earlier Vesper Sparrow not heard
for first time this year but perhaps because of being midday and later in
season. Horned Lark singing as usual at farm W of 661 and just S. Jct 658.
In box opposite farm was the smallest Eastern Bluebird runt egg I have ever
found 10.9 x 9.4 mm, other normal eggs of apparently incomplete clutch were
21.0 x 15.5, 20.5 x 15.6. Any of you bluebirder's (the ones that keep data
that is) ever find anything smaller?
The housing development along 661 and the llama? farming have much degraded
the area where an area once almost pure Tree Swallow and Bluebird nests now
about 50% House Sparrow nests despite some sincere discouragement on my
part.
