Well, ask and ye shall receive. While the numbers of YELLOW-RUMPS in White
Oaks Park were not overwhelming, there were at least 5. And they have been
busy while hunkered down for the last week: in contrast to 8-9 days ago
(when I last saw any), there were several that were well into their molt to
alternate plumage, and two were singing. Consistent with the delayed
migration theory, I finally had my first BLUE-HEADED VIREO in the park, at
least a week past the average. On the other hand the VEERY that I had this
morning is my earliest record by a day or two, and a good ten days earlier
than is typical. Other birds of note this morning were CHIMNEY SWIFT, 5 or
so RC KINGLETS, and 20 flyover LAUGHING GULLS.
What will tomorrow bring?
