Nothing earth shattering, but the first noticeable movement for weeks here
in Suffolk. At Town Point on the Nansemond River yesterday morning (10/6)
there were:
House Wren (1)
Winter Wren (1)
Am. Robin (50+)
Blackpoll Warbler (1)
Common Yellowthroat (3)
American Redstart (3)
Yellow-rumped Warbler (2)
Song Sparrow (2+)
Savannah Sparrow (2+)
hundreds of cowbirds and blackbirds moving north. In fact, all bird
movement this morning was moving north.
The early morning of 10/6 yielded nothing more than sparrows migrating
overhead and many herons, mostly Great Blues, with an unID'd night-heron
mixed in.
Caspian Terns are down in numbers from last week. Around 40 Boat-tailed
Grackles at the local Food Lion.
On 10/5 I should add two (2) Merlins streaking across the point.
At my office in Eclipse, between the Nansemond River and Chuckatuck Creek, I
heard my first Golden-crowned Kinglets of the fall yesterday AM (10/6).
Again, hardly worth mentioning - yet, small treasures gleaned in Suffolk.
