Greetings,
Two singing NASHVILLE and a singing BLUE-WINGED WARBLER greeted me first
thing this morning along the Stone Bridge/Bull Run Trail. I wasn't able to
find Blue-winged at Thompson WMA yesterday, so here I get one "in my own
backyard". Other warblers included:
N. Parula 5
BT Green 2
Blk & White
BT Blue 2
MAGNOLIA
Pine
Prairie
WILSON'S
C. Yellowthroat
Ovenbird
let's not forget the Yellow-rumps
Other highlights:
Scarlet Tanager (3), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (2), RT Hummer, Indigo Bunting
(2), Acadian and GC Flycatchers.
A big push of White-throated Sparrows (c. 100) was evident all along the
trail. I'm not used to sorting through so many WT. Two Red-headed Woodpeckers
continue at their hangout along Bull Run. Hermit Thrushes (6) were scattered
throughout.
Some very noisy Blue-gray Gnatcatchers caught my attention midmorning. I've
never heard such a ruckus from these tiny gems. The Titmice came charging in
and then I spied the Barred Owl. Such brave little soldiers, those
blue-grays.
