Addenum to Loudoun County Migratory Bird Day count:
I "solo'd" the census along the very western edge of Loudoun County (the east
side of Rt. 601, from Snicker's Gap to Mt. Weather, including side roads, our
own acreage, along with two neighbors' properties down the ridge, and along
the old Trappe Road as far as the McBride property). Started at 6:30 AM and
reluctantly quit about 2:30 PM.
There were approximately 24 Canada geese on the ponds and fields adjacent to
Hill High Country Store, which I have not listed below, as I think other teams
may have birded that part of the county.
I haven't counted up the number of individuals, but species observed and
tallied follow:
Turkey vulture (15)
Black vulture (2)
Red-shouldered hawk (1)
Mourning dove (6)
Ruby-throated hummingbird (2)
Red-bellied woodpecker (5)

I get 45 species. I'm sure more eyes (and ears) would've helped, but it was a
fantastic day to be birding and great fun.
