The Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy has scheduled several bird walks for Saturday,
May 13. If you are int'd just show up at the locations indicated below. All
of the walks start at 8:00 am. Please contact me if you have any questions.
We are also doing a migratory bird day count on May 13 and still need
volunteers for several areas. If you are interested in helping with that

Horsepen Preserve, along the Potomac River in eastern Loudoun County; led by
Stan Shetler this walk will meet at the Parkway Pool parking lot, right off
Algonkian Parkway in Countryside. The entrance to the parking lot is directly
off Algonkian Parkway, and is between the Algonkian Elementary School and the
Parkway Pool itself. The turn-in is directly across from where Westmoreland
Drive intersects Algonkian Parkway. The parking lot will be on the right if
you are coming from the direction of Fairfax County (e.g. heading west); on the
left if you are coming from the Leesburg direction (e.g. heading east).
Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve; led by Bruce Hill. The group will meet at the
Visitro Center. Directions can to the preserve can be found at

Leesburg Area including Morven Park, the Rust Nature Sanctuary & Red Rock
Regional Park; led by Mike Friedman & Spring Ligi. Will meet at the Rust
Library in Leesburg and car pool from there. Directions to the Rust Library can

Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship; led by Joe Coleman & Jon
Little. Will meet at the Neersville Fire Station on Harpers Ferry Rd, Rt. 671
(5.5 miles north of the intersection of Rt. 9 & Rt. 671 & 2.5 miles south of

Additionally, Claude Moore Park in eastern Loudoun County has also scheduled a
"Wings over Loudoun Bird Festival" on May 13 and are holding a bird walk at 8
a.m. and are having other events between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. See
