In celebration of International Migratory Bird Day the Loudoun
Wildlife Conservancy has scheduled SIX bird walks in Loudoun County
and is also doing a survey of the county's birds.
All six of the walks (from east to west) are scheduled to start at 8 am:
- Horsepen Preserve (immed. upstream from Algonkian Regional Park) led
by Stan Shetler,
- Bles Park (near the GW Univ. Campus) led by Andy Rabin,
- the Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve led by Mary Alice Koneke & Glenn Koppel,
- the Dulles Greenway Wetlands Mitigation Project led by Bruce Hill
and Ron Staley,
- the ANS Rust Nature Sanctuary on the western edge of Leesburg led by
Dirck Harris,
- the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship (in far
northwestern Loudoun Co near Harper's Ferry) led by Larry Meade & Bob
Blakney.
If you are interested in joining one of the walks please let me know
by May 10.
We also still need counters for several parts of the county and would
love more assistance. If you think you are int'd or want to bird your
very own patch please let me know.
We are also doing a birdathon that day and would be thrilled to have
additional participants and pledges.
