Things started out pretty dull this morning and I was starting to think I
wouldn't get a new species for the year, but slowly but surely it picked up a
little. For a while it was just the usuall stuff but I lucked into my first
Blackburnian of the year right above me as I got out of the car near the
canoe launch. Like most of my Blackburnian sightings, the light was terrible
so I missed out on most of the "wow" factor with his firey throat.
Other new sightings for me were:
Great Creasted Flycatcher
E. Kingbird - 2
Scarlet Tanager 1, possibly 2
Worm Eating Warbler 2
The last 2 were along the Powell's Creek trail and I went slightly insane
trying to see these little buggers. I gave up before I found them and before
I went fully mad!
I missed LA Waterthrush which has been there this year, and also Prothonatory
which I don't think has been seen there this year?
Another notable was the number of Blue Grey Gnatcatchers......I only had 3
today which is down by about 15 from last week!
