Saturday morning was cold but beautiful along the Hike/Bike Trail at
Huntley. The highlight was a LINCOLN'S SPARROW near a brush pile to the
right of the platform. An interesting phenonenon was approximately 800
crows commuting to the south, mostly east of the central wetland, over about
ten minutes around 7 a.m. Other notables included:
Flicker 12
Phoebe 1
Catbird 1
House wren 1
RC kinglet 12
GC kinglet 2
Parula 1
BTB 1
BTG 1
Yellow-rumped 30
Palm 10 (all yellow)
Yellowthroat 4
Song sparrow 15
Swamp 3
White-throated 8
Field 1
Towhee 8
Later in the day on the other side of the park with family I added 2 black
vultures, a creeper, and singing thrasher.
On Sunday, White Oaks Park yielded my first WINTER WREN, an OVENBIRD, and 2
BTBs.
