Hello, birders.
Jodi Bucknam and I birded part of Lake Fairfax Park
for 1 hour this morning before we had to tear
ourselves away to go to work and run errands. We had
fun and enjoyed getting 10 species of warblers. Most
birds were hidden in the foliage and were thus
identified by ear. We did get to see a La.
Waterthrush that was pretty high up in a maple along
Colvin Run. We could see the condensation from his
breath as he sang in the cool morning air, his body
and tail shaking from all the energy spent in
announcing his territory. We birded in the forest and
along the edge of a neighborhood. Full bird list

be a territorial skirmish.

-Yel.-rumped Warbler, 4
-B.t. Green Warbler, 2
-Black and White Warbler, 1
-Am. Redstart, 1

Also 1 Box Turtle that we didn't see until we were
practically on top of him.
