While continuing my tour of underbirded areas of Fairfax County, I went over
to Lake Accotink this afternoon. I birded the brushy area near the stream
behind the carousel for about an hour. While there I saw 6 species of
warblers- Black and White, Palm (2) , Black Throated Green, Magnolia, Northern
Parula, and Common Yellowthroat. One of the Palm Warblers was very
cooperative
and provided me with some poses allowing for some decent pictures. There were
a
number of sparrows present also. Most of them were Song Sparrows, but I
also saw a Chipping, Swamp and two Field Sparrows. A Blue Headed Vireo was
also
seen briefly flitting around in a tree.
