Howdy all,
Today turned out to be a bit disappointing. With the north winds overnight, I
was hopeful for a bigger day, but there just didn't seem to be the birds here
this morning. We only banded 44 new birds today. But the other factor that
hurt our efforts was the wind speed. It was workable early in the morning, but
the nets were still moving some (increasing their visibility). But by 10am the
wind just got too strong and we had to shut down most of the nets. After that,
we caught nothing. But it was still a better day than yesterday!
The highlight bird of the morning was a BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, our second of
the season.
Here are the totals for the day 9/20:
American Redstart 4
Black-throated Blue Warbler 9
Black-and-white Warbler 2
Common Yellowthroat 10
Prairie Warbler 1
Magnolia Warbler 1
Blue-winged Warbler 1
Northern Waterthrush 3
Ovenbird 2
House Wren 1
Traill's Flycatcher 1
Red-eyed Vireo 4
Veery 1
Gray Catbird 2
Northern Mockingbird 2
TOTAL ------------------------------ 44
