Howdy all,
Well, just be glad the Kiptopeke Challenge was not today. Birds were few and
far in-between. And the Mosquitoes are insanely high numbers.
Since we didn't band yesterday because of the rain, I was hopeful we would
catch enough birds to make up for it. Well....that was not the case.
We luckily banded 6 birds today, much better than the zero we could/should
have gotten. Very little around in the way of songbirds. We actually had more
people (staff) at the station this morning that we had birds. Good thing too,
because if it was just my intern Andrew and I, I think the mosquitoes would
have
drained us dry!
I do hope tomorrow is much better, both for us at the banding station and for
the Kiptopeke Challenge teams.
Here is the quick totals:
Don't blink.
Prairie Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 1
Veery 3
Northern Cardinal 1
TOTAL -------------------- 6
Cheers,
